Bill Hunsicker's Music

Some musical notes.

I've been playing trumpet since the 6th grade. I spent 2 years as a music major at UNI, where I studied w/ Keith Johnson. I decided that I was going to definitely be needing a day job, at least for the medium term. And I didn't really want to teach. So I switched to ISU, got an engineering degree (computers) and moved to the coast to work.

Out here I was able to study with Claude Gordon in the late '80s and early '90s.

While working in the bay area, I enjoyed playing in pit orchestras for various musical theater groups, as well as other community orchestras and big bands.

Currently living in Reno and playing with several bands in the area, including the Sierra Swing Band (blogspot, facebook)

Some of my favorites:

Björk

One of the few real innovators in pop music over the last several decades.

Bud Herseth

Adolph "Bud" Herseth was principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for over 50 years. He was in a class by himself.
