A few bits about how I support myself.

I've been writing software since 1981, mostly for use by digital hardware designers, although I'm now retired and living in Reno, having escaped California in early 2006. (Not that CA's all bad -- there are many things I miss about the bay area.)

During my Silicon Valley days I was last employed by by NVIDIA Corp. Before that I worked for Hewlett Packard, then Valid Logic Systems, Inc. then CrossCheck Technologies, then FirePower Systems, Inc. (which was a designer of power-PC based computers, not a weapons manufacturer).
